Solo Leveling in DnD: Blue Venom-Fanged Kasaka

Solo Leveling is currently airing on Crunchyroll, and being a big fan of it since the time when the manhwa was coming out, I thought of adapting different creatures and items from the series for anyone who would like to use them in their DnD table.

Opening this series of articles, I present you the stats for the blue venom-fanged kasaka, the first system-generated dungeon boss Sung Jinwoo had to face.

The Blue venom-Fanged from Solo leveling

To be honest, I was surprised after not finding a huge or gargantuan snake that could straight-up take on the role of the blue venom-fanged kasaka in the 2024 monster manual. This first boss is strong but does not have a lot going for it other than its brute force and venom. That is why I decided to spice up its stat block by creating an alternative version of the paralyzed condition.

Paralyze (Solo Leveling, Condition)

Paralyzed Level. This condition is cumulative. Each time you receive it, you gain 1 Paralyzed level.

Dexterity Tests Affected. When you make a D20 Test based on Dexterity, the roll is reduced by an amount equal to your Paralyzed level.

Speed Reduced. For each two Paralyzed levels you have, your Speed is reduced by 5 feet. If your speed ever reaches 0 feet, you become completely Paralyzed (follow the usual ruling for Paralyzed to reflect this).

With this considered, here’s the stat block:

Of course, I understand some of you may not want to use my modified version of the Paralyzed condition. If that is the case, just substitute the Paralyzed condition inflicted by the Bite of the blue venom-fanged kasaka with additional 9 (2d8) Poison damage.

Since it is a boss, I was tempted to add legendary actions and a lair description to the blue venom-fanged kasaka stat block. However, due to its CR, doing so would not follow the usual balance rulings—after all Sung Jinwoo was still starting his journey when he defeated it.

What do you think? Should I have added more boss-like elements anyway? If some of you would like me to expand the stat block, I will gladly do it in a future issue. In the meantime, tell me what you think about my take on this boss and comment if you would like me to adapt other Solo Leveling creatures.
